The Department of Pastoral Care for Migrants and Refugees of the Archdiocese is committed to promoting an authentic culture of welcome, acceptance of human values, faith and diversity of each migrant, refugee, asylum seeker and host community by empowering them to grow spiritually.
Pastoral Care provides various programmes to assist people in need through welcoming, home visits, referrals to other organisations, legal assistance with documentation, education and health care.
Through participating in this project, participants’ proficiency in terms of reading, speaking, listening and writing ability is enhanced.
Ultimately, the candidates will be able to engage more efficiently with potential employers, job search or workplace.
Participants are selected based on referrals or selection criteria. Non-English speaking refugees and asylum seekers might be more in need than others. Some have limited exposure to English, resulting in them more in need than the others.
Those with marketable labour skills, or who are actively job-searching, will benefit from this programme.
