Moment of Grace
FEAST OF PENTECOST
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, even so I send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:21-22
Veni, Sancte, Spiritus! Come, Holy Spirit, come!
Today we celebrate the birth of the Church. I encourage you to read again the short verses from today’s Gospel, but this time, be present in the Upper Room as a disciple of Jesus, and hear Him speak His words to you.
Having faithfully prayed for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon you, receive the gift of God that He breathes into your life, and let your heart be at peace to acknowledge what He presents you with. Across the world all people receive the True Source of unity, the new law of following the Lord. Knowing us intimately, the Lord breathes into our lives the gifts of the Spirit that will enhance the growth of the Kingdom of God. The gifts that are poured out upon us are not to be compared with others, but to be used to serve God in a more faithful, diligent and creative way in order for us to be encouragers to each other, and servants of one another who are totally united with the Triune God.
Prayer
Gracious Father, Son of the Living God and Sanctifying Spirit, thank You the gifts that You lavish upon me on this glorious Feast Day. Inspire, encourage and set me on fire with Your holy gifts so that I may serve You with humility and love in my brothers and sisters. With a heart full of praise for You, my God, I welcome Your Breath of Life into my being as I sing, “Veni, Sancte, Spiritus!”
Glory be to the Father and to Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen. Alleluia!
Happy and Glorious Feast of Pentecost!
