Moment of Grace
“Have you not read this Scripture: ‘The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner.” Mark 12:10
After concluding our Easter Season with the great Feast of Pentecost, we are back in Ordinary Time in the Liturgical Calendar, but don’t be mistaken, there is nothing ordinary about this time. We learn about the person of Jesus, and how we need to refocus our hearts and minds to behave more Christ-like. The first reading from the second letter of Peter tells us to be removed from worldly passions and attachments so that we can “become partakers of the divine nature” (2 Pet. 1:4) because we have been promised the glory that is Christ’s.
As we invite Christ to be the “Cornerstone” of our lives, we acknowledge our need of Him. A microscopic virus has shown us that nothing is more precious than the gift of life. In our wildest dreams, never did we consider that our lives would screech to a sudden halt by something that has claimed thousands of lives, and is still on the rampage. The world offers us nothing! All we have is the Lord, but we need to learn about God, and His supreme Authority over all things, through the Person of Jesus, and the power of having Him in our corner.
Prayer
My Jesus, thank You for the gift of my life. Thank You for this new day. In Your holy name I step out boldly to face its challenges for I know that with You at my side, there is nothing that I cannot overcome. Lord, bless my family and friends, and please keep them protected. May my life serve as a sacrifice for all those in need of Your grace, healing, mercy, comfort and love. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.
