“To Hope and Act with Creation…”

Season of Creation 2024 will be celebrated at the Mother of Mercy Shrine in Magaliesburg on Saturday, the 31st of August 2024.

The Archdiocese of Johannesburg has been celebrating Season of Creation for the past two years, this year is the ultimate!

This will be the celebration of all time, parishioners from all corners of the Archdiocese  and beyond will converge at the Mother of Mercy Shrine.

It will be a day of planting, prayer, reflections, music, fun and games even music competition amongst Youth choirs.

This is a response to Archbishop Buti Thlagale’s call for pilgrims to frequent the Mother of Mercy Shrine in order for us to experience Miracles. The pilgrims  will plant the first trees in the Shrine, it’s an experience that one will carry in the heart for the rest of their life.

This day will offer the pilgrims an opportunity “To Hope and Act with Creation” which is the theme for Season of Creation 2024.

This is our effort of integrating creation into the life of the church. To encourages parishes, schools, organizations and dioceses to join in participation and action to prevent ecological crisis.

We are the “Seeds of Hope” and we gather as a community to contemplate and nurture seeds of hope for our suffering planet.

Season of Creation is a response to the Cry of the Earth and Cry of the Poor. It sends a reminder of the need for transformation for both personal and cultural amidst our ecological and climate crisis.
