RE: CONSECRATION OF RUSSIA AND UKRAINE TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
Dear Monsignor, Rev. Father, Rev. Deacon, Religious, Brothers and Sisters
In the context of the events unfolding in Ukraine, the Holy Father, Pope Francis will lead an Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Feast of the Annunciation, 25’h March 2022, at 6pm, local time (5pm, Rome time).
The consecration will be a plea to God and the Blessed Virgin Mary, in a time of great hardship, to intercede for peace and an end to war.
His Grace Archbishop Buti Tlhagale, invite all priests, deacons, religious and the People of God in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg, to engage in this Act of Consecration as per the request of the Holy Father.
The clergy in the Archdiocese are encouraged to offer prayer in the form of Holy Hour and Adoration, praying of the Rosary, and, or the Stations of the Cross. Holy Mass this Friday, should be offered for the intentions of the Holy Father and the prayer of consecration ought to be recited. In circumstances where the faithful are unable to attend Holy Mass, they are encouraged to pray the Rosary at midday, and, or at 6pm in the evening.
His Grace Archbishop Buti Tlhagale imparts his Blessing upon all people of good will in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg, and hopes that we will all be able to join our Holy Father in this important moment of prayer.
Yours in Jesus Christ and Mary Immaculate.
Father Paul Beukes OMI Vicar General
Catholic Archdiocese of Johannesburg
